A protest in commemoration of the 100th anniversary of Armenian Genocide, organized by ARF and ADL New York/New Jersey branches, was held on April 24, 2015. Following mass at the respective cathedrals, the parishioners marched from St. Vartan Cathedral and St. Illuminator’s Armenian Apostolic Cathedral and proceeded to the Turkish Consulate. Unfortunately the march did not go without an incident.  As one of the protesters  senior citizen Setrak Balabanian was crossing 3rd avenue in Manhattan he was attacked by a Turkish protestor,  who forcefully pushed him into the street and onto fast moving traffic. Mr. Balabanian suffered injuries breaking both his legs. Ambulance took  him to the hospital. The attacker a man of Turkish nationality  was arrested by the New York Police Department who were present and witnessed the entire act.
