Vardavar celebration in Armenia and beyond. Vardavar transfiguration of Christ is one of the five major feasts of the Armenian Apostolic Church. The history of Vardavar dates back to pagan times. The ancient festival is traditionally associated with the goddess Astghik who was the goddess of water, beauty, love and fertility. The festival has remained an important part Armenian culture and tradition and was later adapted by Armenian church.
